Bathing Buster

Buster loves showering in the kitchen faucet and he flies in there whenever he hears water and wants to freshen up ;) It's adorable!

Also, my husband is addicted to the terribly raunchy show Californication. It's so vulgar :-/

Next of Kin

James' boss has been really acting psycho lately. He blows up at everyone for little things. When an employee who worked there for 3 months (let's call her Sue) and couldn't get the hang of her job, other employees suggested Sue be let go and the other MD started pushing for them to hire his friend, Jill. The only problem was that Jill use to work for his boss years ago and he doesn't like her, but at the request of the other MD, Jill got hired. Sue was then fired. Well Jill is still learning the job (she's been there for a week) and his boss wants to fire her so he's asked everyone in the office to make a list of why they fired Sue in the first place. James thinks this whole list thing is only to access which employee is "on his side" and which is "against him." True to form, his boss then used the lists against everyone who made them... yelling, swearing... the usual.

James and I have since then discussed his boss' inability to control his anger, and him always trying to pick fights. His boss also keeps a gun at work and another in his car. Neither of us would put it past him coming into work one day and.. well, something BAD happening. I told James not to turn his back on him for a second. He never knows what kind of mood he may be in.

Then, over the weekend, an employee got married and the boss had long since been invited to the wedding. He showed up, got drunk, and made a big scene saying how his employee's new husband is "probably the only n*gger at the wedding" and how she "better live it up now, 'cause it's all downhill from here" and how he knows she is cute and that's why he hired her but now she's "just gonna get fat." Nice.

So today, James & his coworkers were all asked (by the boss) to make a list of three names & contact numbers for next of kin and to also list the employees own full names, addresses and telephone numbers. When asked why, he said so he can contact any employee at anytime. It scared me. I hope James gives a PO Box of something. I don't want that psycho knowing where we live or driving by to "check up" on us or something. Especially since the last time he really laid into James, he explained how hard it is that he (the boss) didn't have a wife and family to go home to, and he doesn't get a steady paycheck like James blah blah blah. Who knows what this guy will do?

Judgey Judgerson

Sometimes it gets old having to defend myself to people whose only problem is that I made different (and therefor wrong) decisions than theirs.

Take buying a house, for instance. I can't tell you how much crap James & I have had to take over the years, and even more so now that we're expecting. Everyone is just brainwashed into thinking that home ownership is the best and only choice for responsible people. It just isn't so. It just so happens that James & I really like the fact that when there is a problem with the a/c, the roof, the garage door, the washing machine, or even if the house just needs to be painted we just call up our pleasure of a landlord and he makes calls and it's all taken care of and at no cost to us! Another bonus? If we ever want to move we don't have to wait to sell our house.

Another thing we often get looked down upon for is our choice not to have cable. Sure, maybe part of it is that we're being cheapscates, but another big part of it is that we just don't spend that much time watching things other than movies or specific shows. Like right now, we like watching Dexter. We go to blockbuster and rent each dvd in the season (about 3 or 4) for 99 cents each. Each dvd has a few hours of the show on it, so even assuming we watched an entire disc (3 or 4 episodes) in one night, which we NEVER do, we would still only be spending $30 a month. It seems kinda crazy to pay $60+ a month for a bunch of tv we don't even watch! None-the-less, I've (we've both) been called cheapscates and tightwads to our face about this decision. To us, it just seems logical.

We've also had to take heat for puting more money into our cars to fix them (mostly because they both have like 100k miles and everyone considers cars dead at that milage), and have even gotten flack about spending money on our dog's surgery... "it's just a dog"..."he's HOW old?"... blah blah blah.

It makes me wonder. Does everyone go through this kind of questioning/ judging? Is this something that will subside with age? Is the answer to just not share things like rental status, cable status, etc with people? If you get judged too, what kinda of things are you questioned about?

James' job.

So. James' boss has been a real jerk, lately. He blew up at him the other day and was screaming the F-word & stuff and James just took it without even talking back. I SO would have cried or yelled back or quit or something. It made ma say a prayer for James, or course but also for Dr. Tavary because he obviously has some serious issues in his life he need to work through. He was yelling at James saying things like, "at least you have a wife to go home to" and "at least you GET a paycheck" since, apparently the doc hasn't brought home a paycheck in the whole 2 years his office has been open b/c he's in so much debt. He even told James he should get some drive/initiative and stop "leaching off" his success. Which is funny since he just admitted (in not so many words) that he wasn't successful with the whole paycheck thing. Anyway, the guy has obviously got a raw deal enough to bring it to work like that and unleash on people. And James said he's really active in the church. Idk, I just hope God will rescue both James and Dr. Tavary from their situations. And soon.
