When we boarded the puppy for the Illinois trip, we got a horrible surprise when we picked him up... He had huge blisters on his lips that they wanted to biopsy because they thought it might spread (what?), they asked if hi was ever stiff because he was limping and would lie down every few steps (which we later learned was probably due to the kwik on MOST of his nails had been cut, OR because they split the nails around the kwik, OR because he had a puss-oozing cut on one of his front pads, OR because he had scabby, blood-crusted spots on his elbows probably from laying on concrete). We had also (stupidly) asked that they remove a mole from his chest that had been bleeding. They said ok, and then found some
other mysterious "red spot" near the site of the mole that they wanted to cut off, too. Then they called and said they wanted to remove some other red bump on his groin too, so he would need to go under general anesthesia and then they would biopsy the lip bumps, too. I said no to it all. I hadn't even
seen most of the stuff they were talking about. And as for the red bump on his groin, he's had that for a month of two but we thought nothing of it, since we had just taken him to the vet to find out why he has urinary incontinence. For
that, they had ordered bloodwork and when that came back normal, they did an x-ray to look for some kind of mass and apparently (I was actually told later) never even saw the red bump on his groin! What a bunch of incompetent #$%&@#.....
Here's a look at the lip bumps that we now think were caused by a chain-link fence he probably stuck his nose through for the duration of his stay at the kennel...

Here's a look at his poor, kwik-cut nails all frayed & peely....

And here's a look at the red bump or mass they apparently missed when they xrayed him trying to find, you guessed it, a MASS....

This is the end of that sad, sad story. The poor baby.
